Bay Design Associates Architects joins GMC as new Pensacola office

Bay Design Associates Architects has officially joined forces with Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. (GMC), one of the Southeast’s premier multi-disciplined architecture, engineering and environmental firms. 

GMC and BDA have successfully worked together on several projects in the past. We believe the combined expertise and capabilities of our two firms will fortify and expand our depth of resources and services to better serve our clients. Our Pensacola team, our location and most importantly, our relationships with our clients and dedication to providing personalized service will remain unchanged. Wieczorek Awarded Service to the Profession Award

AIA Florida Northwest held their 2018 Design and Honor awards on September 13.  Projects designed by Northwest Florida architects were recognized for their outstanding design work, and several individuals were also recognized for their personal contributions to the community and the architecture profession.

 

Kelly Wieczorek, AIA, was awarded the Service to the Profession award.  This award recognizes a member that has served architecture and the AIA. "Kelly has served our chapter even before she was licensed. She led the ARE study group locally and was name AIA Florida’s Associate member of the Year in 2010. Kelly continued moving up in leadership roles and served as our chapter president. She currently serves as a state director on the AIA Florida board."

Bay Design Team Completes Safety Assessment Program

Steve Jernigan, FAIA, George Williams, AIA, and Kelly Wieczorek, AIA all recently completed the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services Safety Assessment Program (SAP).  This course certifies attendees as Building Evaluators in the nationally recognized program and provides professional engineers, architects and certified building inspectors training to assist local governments in conducting rapid damage assessments of structures affected by natural disasters.

This certification will help our clients in their initial disaster assessment after storm events.

Camp Bow Wow Opens 

Camp Bow Wow recently opened at 2410 Langley Avenue.  The pet facility features more than 8,600 square feet, including 87 spacious cabins, eight teacup cabins, six luxury suites, four outdoor play areas, dog pools, outdoor play equipment and a climate-controlled atmosphere, fire safety sprinklers and more.

Award Winning Downtown YMCA 

The Bear | Levin | Studer Family YMCA continues to receive recognition from the local design community.  The project was awarded the 2016 AIA Northwest Florida Merit Award of Excellence for New Work, the 2017 NAIOP Award of Excellence, and was recently awarded the CSI Award of Excellence for "Promoting Teamwork in the Building Industry".  The 52,000 facility includes a full size gymnasium, aquatics center, wellness center, multi-purpose/community rooms, demonstration kitchen, locker rooms, conference room and administration office. The entire facility was designed to be a unique place where people can learn to improve their health and quality of life.

Steve Jernigan, FAIA Appointed to BOAID 

Steve Jernigan, FAIA was appointed to the Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design by Gov. Rick Scott for a four-year term beginning January 2018.  Steve has been a leader and political advocate at the local, state and national level, protecting the practice of architecture. 

 

“It’s a great honor to be appointed as a regulator of our profession,” says Jernigan. “I’m looking forward to this new opportunity … and to hopefully help facilitate the path to licensure for the talented graduates we are fortunate to have in Florida.”

Garden Gateway Office Building Opens

ServisFirst Bank moved into the recently completed Garden Gateway Office Building located at 219 East Garden Street.  The new $12 million 5-story office development in downtown Pensacola boasts 48,000 square feet.

2017 NAIOP Design Awards 

 

The Northwest Florida Chapter of NAIOP held it's annual design awards January 18, 2018 at the Pensacola County Club.  Bay Design was awarded multiple projects, including the 2017 Award 

Urban Core Office Building Opens

On Friday, January 19, the Clark Partington Pensacola office will moved into the recently completed Urban Core Office Building  located at 125 East Intendencia.  The new $14 million mixed-use development in downtown Pensacola boasts 56,000 square feet; the top two floors of which will be occupied by Clark Partington. The building will also feature retail and restaurant space on the first floor, and office space on the second floor.  

The new building is located next to the recently completed Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA and across the street from Studer’s Southtowne Apartments development.

One51Main named 2015 NAIOP New Development of the Year 

The National Association for Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) Northwest Florida recently recognized the top developments and broker deals for 2015 at its annual meeting and awards banquet.


Each year, professionals within the commercial real estate industry gather to award contributions to the community through commercial real estate transactions and development. Criteria for selecting these outstanding developments and rehabilitation projects include creativity and innovation, impact to the community, challenges overcome and overall success.

Steve Jernigan, FAIA, named AIA Florida Gold Medal Recipient

 

The highest honor awarded by AIA Florida by one of it's members, the Gold Medal recognizes a Florida architect whose distinguished career has had a profound impact on the profession for an extended period of time.  Leading by example through politcal advocacy at the local, state and national levels, Jernigan's leadership influences component strategies across the country.
